Hey Everyone! We’ve decided to change blog servers. While we love Tumblr, it’s not what we’re looking for in an informative lifestyle blog.
Our NEW blog web address will be http://justinandvelvet.weebly.com
Please visit us there! Thanks!

My first poached egg! I’m so proud.
Sincerely, Velvet.
This morning we woke up to the mail woman knocking on our door, bearing gifts! Two of our boxes had arrived from California. Yay! It was like Christmas putting everything away. Although, some of the things we thought we’d surely use were rendered useless by our concrete brick walls and ceilings, and our sliding doors. We’re in desperate need of some storage ideas that’re visibly appealing but uber space saving. Also, if we buy anything new it has to fit in a backpack or between our legs on our mopeds. This makes shopping more difficult! We also are struggling with how to install our hanging IKEA lamps without drilling a hole in the ceiling or wall. We don’t want to drill for two reasons (1) we’re not allowed to and (2) we don’t own a drill.
Justin working hard on figuring out a way to hang those lamps:

Finally a little settled in, we decided to explore the neighborhood. Thanks jointly to Pinterest <http://madewithlovehi.blogspot.com/p/home-sweet-home.html> and Yelp, we found the Makiki Valley Loop trailhead. The trails are Kanealole and Maunalaha and various other trails break off towards to top of the ridge. We could walk there! About a mile each way through the neighborhood behind our complex. Not bad.
We spent the better part of the afternoon exploring, sweating, watching our step, sweating, and fighting off mosquitoes but it was fun! The only downside is that the trail is mostly covered. Although we climbed about 3/4 up the ridge, we didn’t see much of a view of the city. Purely for exercise, we may do this hike again BUT honestly, I’d rather hike somewhere where see get a pretty view at the end of the trail.

Home Sweet Home! We arrived in Hawai’i on June 27th, 2012 very late at night. It took us about three days to find a home, and when we did find a place, we fell in love with it! Hello Honolulu, we’re here to stay! - @velvetpark- #webstagram

A Message From a Republican Meteorologist on Climate Change by Paul Douglas

People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don’t believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can’t find them, make them. — George Bernard Shaw
